Not Optimistic
So it's now the Friday before the week before Tet. Government offices seem to be closed Feb 14 to 18. It's not clear whether they are closed next week as well but from what I understand very little gets done the week before Tet anyway. So it would appear that we are not going to hear anything until Feb. 19 at the earliest. Therefore, it now looks like we will not depart before March. This adoption is starting to feel like a fantasy again.

Well I was in Hanoi the weeks leading up to tet last year. There were people from all around the world still having G+R's right up to the Thursday (we left Friday Tet was that weekend). There is still hope you might hear something next week. The week after tet, the 15th to 19th, things will come to a complete standstill. Some of the families in my group were stuck waiting for immigration news from our high commission over tet and open restaurants were even hard to find.
