Our G&R Ceremony

After we picked up Maya from the orphanage we headed to Vung Tau for lunch (more pho!) and then headed to a government office for our Giving and Receiving ceremony.

To be honest, the ceremony was not very ceremonious! We just signed the registry and a number of forms and that was it!

Of course, this simple ceremony marks a very momentous occasion - the official moment when Maya becomes our daughter and we become her forever family.

Thanks to Loan and Catherine for taking the photos.

  1. Congratulations on your beautiful daughter! I have been following your blog with my daughter, Maiya, who is also from Vung Tau (VT2) through TDH - the photo in front of the red curtain brought back memories of our G & R almost 3 years ago now! Hope the rest of your trip is smooth and you are home with your family together soon. Best wishes,
    Janice

  3. Thanks Christine and Janice. Yes, I think the last picture is my favourite so far as well. And yes Maya is huge. She's doing really well. More on her adjustment later.

  4. Hi Carol,

I'm a first time poster... We came home with our daughter from Hai Duong (east of Hanoi) in November. I remember the day we got her so clearly... the excitement, the utter amazement that it FINALLY happened. Enjoy every moment.

p.s. Our G&R was total chaos... no ceremony involved, just sign this, sign that, snap a picture, go home.
