Houston

Aidan was born in Houston and lived there for one year. He had done lots of research and studied the maps. He knew exactly where he wanted to go!

Here we are with my dear friend Julia (aka "my other sister"). She and her husband Gulzar graciously hosted us. They are both geologists and their house is full of maps and fossils - Aidan was in heaven!

Aidan wanted to go to Hermann Park and the zoo there. We used to take Aidan on this train when he was an infant.
Here's Aidan on board

We visited the zoo as well. Aidan was particularly interested in checking out the robotic dinosaur exhibit. Here he is with the T-rex

Houston has fantastic museums. Aidan wanted to go to the Children's Museum and the Museum of Natural Science.

Here he on a climbing activity at the Children's Museum

He really wanted to go the Butterfly Gallery

Of course, Space Centre Houston was on the list! We visited Mission Control, saw where the astronauts train and also saw the Saturn V rocket!

We had to get a photo beside the globe outside the Museum of Natural Science

Julia surprised us with some pajamas that her mom made for Maya and Aidan. Here they are at home sporting them! Thanks for the thoughtful gift, Mary!

Aidan had a great time visiting his "homeland". And I enjoyed the trip down memory lane and catching up with Julia and Mary L.

Our next homeland tour will be to Vietnam, but that will likely be several years from now.

San Antonio

What's a trip to Texas without a trip to the Alamo?

The most fun part of San Antone was the 4D movie called "Skies over Texas" which covered West Texas across to the bayous of East Texas, including alligators, a rodeo, and a football game. So much fun, we did it twice!

Homeland Tour

No, it's not what you think! Two weeks ago, I took Aidan on a short trip to Texas so that he could see where he was born. He's been pining to go there for a couple of years and had done extensive research on all the places he wanted to see. Here is a photo of the Texan himself in front of the Texan flag. More photos to follow later.

Giving Thanks

Every Thanksgiving I like to pause and reflect on what I am thankful for during the past year. Of course, this year we are so thankful for our wonderful new daughter, Maya, and our fun-loving son, Aidan! We are so grateful that they get along so well.
Here are a few photos of them having fun on Thanksgiving Day. Maya likes to have a ride and Aidan obliges!

Happy Birthday

to my dear husband, Mike! We really didn't have time to celebrate it properly - we will make up for it when we go to Bahamas to celebrate our 10th anniversary and our birthdays.

Here are a few photos from Mike's birthday - a little cake and a little silliness!
