Sights of Saigon

Yesterday we took in several sites around Saigon, including the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the Emperor Jade Pagoda, and Ben Thanh Market. In the evening, Aidan babysat and Mike and I went to Ngon for dinner, a lovely restaurant with a garden setting. Here are a few photos from the day.

Aidan carrying coconut drinks the Vietnamese way.

The Reunification Palace (like the White House of South Vietnam) and site of where Saigon fell to the North

The Palace is like a time capsule, full of state rooms decorated in 1960s/early 1970s style

A nice painting of a Vietnamese lady at the Palace.

Next stop War Remnants Museum
The museum depicts the atrocities of the war especially the use of toxic chemicals, Agent Orange and napalm, used by the Americans

There were many photos of burns, tumours, and birth defects caused by the chemicals.  Agent Orange continues to cause terrible birth defects to this day

Outside the Emperor Jade Pagoda

The pagoda had interesting statues inside of various Chinese gods
